A Musical Journey… into the weird world of U2/Edge-related guitar effects

Now Accepting Deposits to Reserve an FA-2 Pedal

I try to keep this site more informational vs. commercial, but I do sometimes receive a lot of emails with price inquiries which can crowd my email inbox. So, in the interest of streamlining things I’m trying something new to see if it works out better for everyone. Here’s the pricing info on the FA-2 pedals: I’m now accepting a limited number of deposits (of $100 USD) from those who want to reserve a pedal in the upcoming FA-2 build. I’m expecting these to be completed in the December/January timeframe. The total price is not set in stone yet, but will be very close to $175 without the footswitch, and $200 for the version with the footswitch, plus shipping.

Also, as an experiment, I’m trying out the use of Paypal buttons to see if this makes things more convenient for everybody who wants to place a reservation.

Deposit to Reserve an FA-2 pedal without Footswitch (Traditional Style):
PayPal - The safer, easier way to pay online!

Deposit to Reserve an FA-2 pedal with added Footswitch:
PayPal - The safer, easier way to pay online!

Bear with me as this is very much in “beta” mode. However, if this works out well for people, I may set up a separate web shop in the future for those who want to purchase pedals.

Thanks!
Dave

    Hey Dave,
I’ll place a deposit for a FA-2 with footswitch sometime next week, as I’m curious to try it in my setup. The SDD3K pedal is first in my chain, and I’m thinking of placing the FA-2 last, so I can change the volume to the amp from my board. Looking forward to it :)

Thanks John – You can try it last before the amp and it should work well that way. If you are curious about the way Edge uses it, he has the FA-1 after his other pedals but before his SDD3000 which is before 2290 delays. Now when the the FA-1 was originally made, it was designed to go first in the chain and act as a buffer/line driver. It even had a belt clip to hang it on your belt.

Yeah, I’ve read through the FA-1 threads on U2SF. I’m not sure where I’ll place it – as you may remember from my gear thread I have a Pod HD500 last in the chain, and it of course has a master volume knob which I can use, so it may be that I’ll keep it that way – don’t know, I’ll have to see. I’m curious to try to incorporate the FA-2 in my chain, but it’s impossible to say at this stage. I know the facts supporting the position of the FA-2 first in the chain, but I find the SDD3KP to work well there. Have to see – perhaps I should have the FA-2 first, and move the SDD3KP somewhere else, perhaps inside a loop – on the other hand, I like the crunch it gives, but then again, so does the FA-2 supposedly. I don’t want it to be overkill to have both the SDD3KP and the FA-2 in my setup, but I’d like to experiment, since I very much appreciate the build quality of your stuff.

Oh btw, I may not have noticed it in your articles here, but just to be on the safe side – can the FA-2 be powered by a “standard” 9v DC negative tip 2.1 mm power plug?

Yes, it will be the same as a Boss pedal, and can take from 9 up to 18 VDC, in case you should wish to use a Pedal Power supply with a voltage-doubling cable.

Hi Dave, are you still making a batch of the FA-2s? What are you thinking in terms of a turnaround time? Would love to place an order and I’m just curious about your timing….
